Wedding Feast - Last of Six for 2010

Last wedding to attend for me this year was for Nick and Eunmi. This lovely couple have been my boyfriend's good friends for many years (my boyfriend was one of the groomsmen). Their wedding ceremony and reception was held at Caledon Inn around a month ago in September. It is a beautiful, rustic little place, and was actually a farmhouse back in the 1830's. Far from a farmhouse now, Caledon Inn accommodates for not only weddings, but also private functions and catering. Their dining room is opened to the public as well in the summer. Caledon Inn is a great venue for those looking for a cozy and intimate wedding.

The wedding was such a blast! What a way to end my last wedding reception for 2010. I got extremely hammered (so glad hotel rooms were booked in advance). I was sooooo gone that I stopped taking pictures after dinner and was totally oblivious to the fact that there was a dessert table (I had to steal the dessert table picture from a friend on Facebook).  So yes, that's how fun the wedding was =P

These paper cranes were hand folded by the wedding party - they made over 2,000.

Wedding Feast - Fifth of Six for 2010

A month or so ago, I attended Judy and Sam's wedding reception at Casa-Imperial Fine Chinese Cuisine (名門金宴)near Warden & Steeles in Scarborough. The couple is a family friend of mine and I'm extremely happy to see them finally tie the knot. They are a perfect match and really deserve to be with each other! Judy and Sam have since relocated to Vancouver to start their new lives together *BOO!*, but I'm glad that I will have a place to stay when I do go visit there *HINT HINT!* LOL =D

Casa Imperial is not your typical Chinese restaurant / banquet hall. First of all, it is not in a Chinese plaza - instead, Casa Imperial is located in a stand-alone, classic and old-style house. with a pull in driveway and its own parking lot. Nothing else is attached to it. This exact location was also a steakhouse before (which I've never been).

Secondly, the ambiance in the restaurant is a lot more quiet and subdued compared to your usual Chinese receptions. The decor inside is all very "Victorian". There is no indication that you are in a Chinese restaurant at all. Check out the lamps, mirrors...

Wedding Feast - Fourth of Six for 2010

Last Saturday, I attended Jason and Flora's wedding at Markham Event Centre. My best friend Ray introduced me to Flora several years back, and a bit later I met Jason.

Flora is a very beautiful, kind-hearted, and genuine young woman. She is a dedicated teacher who is always too busy marking and preparing report cards to meet up with me; it is so hard to get a hold of her (*hint hint* Flora). All kidding aside, Flora and I still find time to meet up for dinner once in awhile to catch up and update each other on what's new in our lives. Flora's hubby, Jason (who has the exact same name, first and last, as my brother), is an extremely hard working real estate broker. He is career-oriented, ambitious, and a motivated guy who definitely loves his work. However, it is also evident to every one that he loves Flora much much more than anything else in the world. So Jason, after having said such a bold statement, you better take good care of Flora, or else! =D  Jason and Flora have been together for many years now and I'm so happy that they have finally tied the knot last weekend. Congratulations to the lovely couple! By the way, if you are looking for a real estate broker, visit Jason's website - I refer him to all my friends =)

Enough of the praising and promotion, huh? =P  Time to show you some food pics from the wedding.

Before going into the banquet hall, guests were served appetizers at the reception. I was obviously too slow to notice this since there was hardly anything left on this tray.

Wedding Feast - Third of Six for 2010

Last Saturday, I attended my third wedding reception out of six this year. For those who may not know, I was invited to six weddings this year, one in each month since April and all the way up to September (I'm half way done now). What can I say? Love is certainly in the air this year!

In any case, the married couple, Vince and Caroline, are friends of my boyfriend. Last Saturday was actually my first time meeting them both! Obviously, I was quite honored to have been invited.

The classy reception was held at Hilton Suites in Markham. Upon arrival, I see families and friends mingling in the reception hall. Live piano music was playing in the background, bowls of fruit punch were set out at the guests' disaposal, wine was being poured, and tasty-looking hors d'oeuvres were being served by waiters. As you can imagine, me, being the foodie that I am, was thrilled at the sight of all this good stuff.

Fruit punch - refreshing!

Wedding Feast - Second of Six for 2010

Not sure if you noticed, but the number of weddings that I will be attending this year has jumped from four to six (my last post about weddings was a month ago, titled "Wedding Feast - First of Four for 2010"). Yeah, not sure how it happened, but it did! And it just so happens that they are spaced out with one every month till October - so one feast per month...I can certainly handle that!

So two weeks ago, my friend had her wedding reception at Diamond Banquet Hall at First Markham Place. Diamond is also a Chinese restaurant that serves dim sum by day, and  Guangdong dishes by night. The banquet hall / restaurant can accommodate around 30 tables, which works out perfectly for her lovely evening reception.

Wedding Feast - First of Four for 2010

Last weekend, I had the good fortune of being invited to a friend's wedding, where the lovely couple are close friends of my boyfriend for many years. Families, loved ones, and friends of the bride and groom all gathered to show their congratulations and give best wishes to the couple. Unlike the ceremony earlier in the day, no one had to be quiet anymore at the reception. This was the time to eat (a 10-course meal), drink (open bar), and dance (live band) the night away, in honor of the couple's marriage. The weather was perfect, the venue was classy, the atmosphere was festive, and most importantly, it was the couple and the celebration of their love for each other that made the night so special. I'm so glad to have had the opportunity to celebrate with them on their special day.  The married couple is now on their honeymoon as I write this post =)

Having said all that, lets move on to the food, huh? One word to describe it: Exquisite. Would you just take a look at the 10-course menu? If all the wedding receptions serve such delicious food (which is not always the case), I would die happy hahaha. And yes, as my post title indicates, I have 4 weddings to go to this year, so expect to see 3 more blogs of about wedding food!

Note: please excuse the poor picture quality. I was too lazy to bring my SLR so I only had my point-and-shoot camera; far from ideal under dim lighting.

Notice the "Late Night Nyamming". How cool is
that??? This is the first time I've seen late night food
and snacks at a wedding reception! *thumbs up*
