Sunday Brunch at Langdon Hall

After spending most of Saturday afternoon strolling around the hotel's property, then treating ourselves to a fantastic Chef's Tasting Menu in the evening, you may wonder what we ended up doing Sunday at Langdon Hall (Twitter: @Langdon_Hall, Facebook: Langdon Hall Country House Hotel & Spa). How about the same thing all over again?! Well not exactly, but close enough.

Feeling rejuvenated after a great night's sleep (in our beautiful room nonetheless) we woke to marvelous weather; there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Taking full advantage of this and the few hours we have before checking-out, we took one last excursion on the estate's herb and water gardens, fields, and manicured lawns.

We would rest on the benches between our walks every now and then just so we can take a mental picture of the gorgeousness surrounding us. Life could not be better at that moment.

Oops, actually it can! Enter Sunday brunch, outside, underneath a big beautiful tree, with a view of the Langdon Hall gardens!

What an elegant Sunday brunch. Such stunning, vivid colours! Can you imagine brunch looking like this all the time? I can dream ;) With ingredients picked fresh from the kitchen's vegetable garden just before service, executive chef Jason Bangerter (@chefbangerter) pulls out all the stops, even for Sunday Brunch. Exquisite and polished plates from start to finish, my favourites were the perfectly wrapped Prawn Tortellini, the rich and smooth Chicken Liver Parfait with truffles and "a side" of hen egg, the simple Chilled Pea & Herb Soup which was elevated by the addition of crunchy, burnt onion (loved that!), and the tender Spring Lamb garnished with chamomile picked from the garden. Although I was really fond of that black current sorbet the desserts in general didn't make as much of an impression on me compared to the appetizers and mains.

In general, I realized it's about the three R&Rs at Langdon Hall:

Rest & Recreation*
Rest & Recuperation
Rest & Relaxation

I maxed out on all the above R&R activities when I was there. Mission accomplished!

*In my case this R&R should be replaced with R&D, or Rest & Dine.
